Looking at it again, I honestly feel that giving Kirby Funfest a 1.5/10 is STILL too generous. I made so many issues in that comic, and aside from the prologue, the writing is absolutely horrendous…

Also, congrats on 50 (reviewed) comics!

Reply Quirby64_:D, July 7th, 2014, 1:30 pm

@Ultimate Yoshi: I SUCK AND I'M PROUDDDDD-*shot*

Ah, dangit once more...my comics suck. I really need to actually get better in writing comics, stories or whatever.

Reply willy5000, July 7th, 2014, 1:44 pm

Will you do this again for 100?

And by that I mean the 51st-100th comics you review

Reply 1ce_k1d, July 7th, 2014, 2:47 pm

If you do this again, can you please only mention the comics if the score changed or you have something interesting to say (like the comment on my one)

0.0 @Ultimate Yoshi: Errrr...Thanks for understanding. I'm sorry about the whole text issue; sometimes I couldn't tell the difference either. And I honestly don't feel bad about the low score.
2/10 IS BETTER THAN 0/10!!!!!!

Edit: Also, it was 19 months after Sonic confessed his love to Blaze that they got married and that whole insanity stuff.

Also, congrats on the big number! 50! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Reply witswithme, July 7th, 2014, 3:03 pm

Oooooh, NO. @willy5000: NO MAN PLEASE DON'T.
That would be too much for him.

...Although it wouldn't be a bad idea to to a rehash of the previous reviews. Maybe every 20-30 comics or so?

Reply BattleStarX, July 7th, 2014, 3:06 pm

Oh, another in-depth review, ne? I look forward to it, I think I handled things a bit differently in that segment enough to know if I should hold on to it or let it go.

Nice! Well can't wait to see more surprises you will give us!

@Ultimate Yoshi: Will you ever review comics outside of smackjeeves if you're given the opportunity?

Reply 1ce_k1d, July 7th, 2014, 8:33 pm

@Nekotive: He did so with Vulcan Z.

oh boy that wad a daunting task you put upon yourself lol.

Oh boy when it comes to my comic I really feel like it would benefit from an actual 1-to-1 interview-esque conversation about it because I feel like my ideas still aren't like... being completely understood? I dunno. Like I guess I'm just having a hard time expressing my thoughts/views on the comic in minor (all be it long as hell) comments lol.

Like the original score I wasn't surprised by, in my head that was the lowest I assumed I would get based on... basically everything you mentioned - so my surprise wasn't a "heeeey...that's way lower then I feel I deserve!" more a... "huh, well.. I guess I was right" if that makes any more sense...lol

As for my philosophy with immersion... That one's tricky, originally it was strictly about the idea of immersing the reader into Silver's world by making it look like.. basically cut scenes of the game (Chap 0 REALLY shows this) but that idea has kind of...evolved. Now when I mean immersion I more or less mean the idea of letting the reader imagine themselves in this world, allowing them to make their own characters who can even cameo in the background or sometimes interact with Silver OR even join him on the journey and stuff. Cuz as I believe I've said... EVERY character in the comic, outside of the August family, is inspired by a real person who's either a friend or fan who's character I've put into the story.

The overworld sprites are now a simple medium for people to use to make their own personal characters..and they do have their limits I'll definitely agree but at this point I'm just really used to it, and they're easy to work with when it comes to things like animated skits for the youtube channel and well.. I have like 150+ different animation frames of Silver so tossing all of those away (along with the rest of the SL cast which is in the 20+s) would suck...and Silver gets a redesign at the end of season 1 too so...@.@ meep.

Ultimately though the Overworld subject truly is a matter of opinion, because as I said, you are currently the ONLY person I know who has outwardly spoken about the use of the overworlds as a bad thing. and honestly for good reason because you're right, their unique scale and proportions are not the same as the Pokemon for most part and the lack of expressions is limiting outside of the times I add it myself.

I have considered adding mouths but for now its a bit of a Dilbert situation where I only add it for critical moments where I NEED that emotion to be clear, not just from dialogue, but from visual stand points too.

But yah.. Like as I said, I really feel like these comments aren't fully explaining my thoughts and it's something that could probably be understood greater through a back and forth discussion, but eh, that's something for another day.

Ultimately Yoshi (coincidental pun lol) I fully respect your opinion, have learned from it and your advice. I have great admiration for the tall task you give yourself by reviewing comics both good and bad. So keep up the good work and I look forward to another 50 reviews... and if you ever wanna chat, I'm not hard to find lol

Oh this is late, but ontop of 50 Reviews, congrats on crossing the 100 fan threshold, not gonna lie some of those fans might be thanks to me hyping your review-comic...thing? (What would I call this? lol) because of eager anticipation haha.

Reply Haunshaul, July 8th, 2014, 3:13 am

First, I want to say that I've really been enjoying your reviews, and I really respect what you're doing with this series.

Second, for the sake of professionalism on your part, I feel that it's worth mentioning that you sometimes confuse the contraction "it's" with the possessive "its". Not a huge issue, but one that I think you should be aware of if you're going to be pointing out the shortcomings of others' work.

Overall, though, I think you provide some pretty great insight on a good number of comics, and I genuinely look forward to more.

Congratulations on 50 reviews, and what a treat to bring to your fans to re-review EVERY comic you have done so far!

You are doing something rarely done on smackjeeves, and I think the likes of this comic is greatly needed. It helps improve lots of people's comics while it entertains!

Good job so far, and I will be sure to keep checking in for more reviews.

Reply Sapar, July 8th, 2014, 2:45 pm

I pretty much agree with most of these points, especially with Core Eyes. This review thing has introduced me to a lot of comics that I now LOVE, so I'm not complaining. Keep it up!

Reply 1ce_k1d, July 8th, 2014, 8:05 pm

@Therater2: Turns out this is the only alive review comic, at least that I could find.

Reply Nekotive, July 8th, 2014, 10:28 pm

It can be hard to find reviews on comics, so I'm glad you started this, Ulti.

Reply nyancat6650, July 11th, 2014, 12:20 pm
