Read The Extreme Team! here:

Next up: FATETHE URBAN LEGEND by LIFELINE COMICS. (Wow, first sonic again hated capital letters, now this one seems to be in love with them.)

You must have a pretty long queue, huh? Do you ever feel overwhelmed or pressured?

Also, I'm pretty sure the reasoning behind requests of comics the author KNOWS are bad is because they think it's funny to see you review it.

Lol, I'll make a mental note to send you my comics after the prologue of each is done ^^

And fear not, they aren't even close to one of 'those' comics ^^ can't wait to see what your queue dishes out next!

They possibly want to avoid their previous fails, so they make sure EXACTLY what went wrong.

Reply Alienoid, March 25th, 2014, 10:03 pm

Maybe they like seeing you facepalm and cringe?

Reply Redkirby, March 25th, 2014, 10:10 pm

Maybe they view you as the Angry Video Game Nerd of webcomics?

Mostly I was just viewing this as a sendoff of the old thing.

Yeah, this comic was... never really that good, as can be inferred. Combination of starting off when I was way too young, the overinvolvement of the author avatar (the Luigi lookalike), the abandonment of several plot elements (never did show the adventures of Cadajask or Regice getting their macguffins), and the... yeah, Pokemon sprites aren't really that good for this sort of thing. I do have eventual plans to make a new comic in the same universe someday, and that's definitely gonna be hand-drawn. (And not necessarily take every single thing in this one as canon.)

A bit of trivia that Ulti might have noticed, but I feel like sharing for the rest of the class - the Magikarp villain, known as Kouppy (koi + guppy, I think? it was years ago), was based partially on a Magikarp I had in LeafGreen back in the day. I traded him away for a Mew at a giveaway event. Nice idea in theory, maybe? Didn't really work here though.

And yeah, I was actually waiting to reach a certain point in my current comic before requesting a review, so that a particular bit of setup could be realized, but... checking recently, it's gonna take till like July at my current update rate to get there, so...

Kirby's Dreamland Adventures review, go? Maybe?

(No relation to BSX's comic. It was just a coincidence.)

I think people like reading you review terrible comics, Ulti. ;D

Although I will admit, this review comic thing has shown me some pretty awesome comics I now regularly read (Okay maybe just PokemonMD: RAD, but still)

Hmmm... good point. It must suck to read old comics if the author has no intention of asking you to review new ones.

However, I did read CapedLuigisYoshi's comment, and it's nice to know that some have an intent to ask you to review new ones, not just old ones.

@Neon-J = Really, the only one on the reviews I've read is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: RAD & sadly, Serendipity; An Equestrian Tale. The second one was really bad and I was greatly confused.

Hmmm... Ultimate Yoshi, I plan to make a Warrior Cats comic (which'll probably be really odd, considering how all the comics of them I read so far are based off of the books or are really bad), and if it reaches 30 pages (not 20 since 10 of 'em will probably be fillers or something), will you review it? Just a request for the future, but I don't really know how this works since all my comics aren't even close to the counter, and I haven't been reviewed before. Thank you for reading this comment!

Some additional thoughts:

- It is still really weird to see these panels outside the context of the rest of their comics. Guess that's what happens when you work on a thing for several years.

- Technically, this wasn't my first try (although it might as well be since the real first try didn't even get to 20 comics). In fact, "The Extreme Team" was initially supposed to be a side thing for the proto-first try, a stupid thing revolving solely around the author insert and his housemates. Most notable is that the first six of those were reused as the setting for Rockurtle's adventure segment thing for the Kouppy Quest. Ulti used a panel from one of the latter right next to when he mentioned potentially interesting concepts, so that's a thing.

- Like "The Extreme Team" was meant to be a side gig for the proto-comic way back when, my current comic (the other KDA) was originally intended as a side gig for this. There were a couple cycles of one being active and the other being dead, but we can see which one won.

- One of the fillers had Megaman going up against Airman in reference to that one fansong, since I figured that the guy singing was just bad at the game. I had not played a Megaman game at that time. I have by now, and... I still think the guy was bad at the game. Not because Airman's easy without the Leaf Shield (he's not), but because it's easy to take out Metalman and then spam his weapon on Woodman. Eh.

- That last panel was from (the 100th comic as a direct reference to) one of the most complainy things I put out and one of the worst fillers in that archive. Uggggh. Guess it sums up this whole thing very nicely.

- I'm... not exactly sure what to think that all the comments here aside from mine are about the question Ulti put forward at the end. Huh.

Ulti, could you please review my latest comic, Not the Hero's Sword?

Reply Spar Elric, April 5th, 2014, 1:21 pm

@Dcall X1: You sure you want him to? Considering there are authors there making fun of you.

Reply nyancat6650, April 7th, 2014, 2:53 pm

that's not cly that's luigi with his mustache shaven

Reply CapedLuigisYoshi, April 8th, 2014, 2:17 pm

@nyancat6650: In the first half of the comic, I hadn't even gotten around to editing the mustache out. When I finally did, there was a strip making note of the change, where Character!Cly explained that the mustache was actually just extra pixels the entire time and had never really existed.

It's ironic because it's during that latter half that I could've potentially grown a mustache if I wanted.
